Our Community, Our Health recently launched a project targeting healthy food options in Pemiscot County. The goal project is a comprehensive effort to prevent diet-related health issues. The program includes partnerships with doctors and dietitians, availability of chronic disease self-management courses, distribution of healthy food. She is collaborating with Ms. Dixie Dunch from the Prevention Research Center at Washington University, who works on physical activity promotion and community engagement in Southeast Missouri.

The annual Fall into Healthy Living program offers a one educational seminar with a Q & A session with local doctors, dieticians, and health professionals. The average attendance ranged from 200-300 individuals. Programmatic resources and connections are made during this one-day forum.

The role of modeling in this project will be to develop a preliminary hypothesis of the system dynamics driving food access and healthy food choices in Pemiscot County based on information and feedback provided by the community members.
